About

A field guide, not a feed

Quiet Garden is a curated reference for growing food without soil. It doesn't replace the sources it lists — every entry exists to point you at the best material on the open web, with an honest note on why it's worth your time.

Entries are organised through a resilience lens: what keeps growing when things fail?

  • TIER 1 · GRAVITY Passive systems — Kratky, gravity-fed. No power, no moving parts. The baseline that fails last.
  • TIER 2 · POWERED Pumps and circulation — NFT, aeroponics. More yield, more failure modes. Solar and battery backup matter here.
  • TIER 3 · SENSORS Monitoring and automation — EC meters, ESP32 rigs. Convenience, and the first layer to fail.

There is no publishing schedule. New entries appear when the field produces something worth keeping; every outbound link is re-verified on a rolling basis, and dead links are flagged rather than silently kept.
